Get Involved
Preserving OHV lands like the Imperial Sand Dunes is about more than just recreation. It’s about protecting a diverse and cherished way of life that supports local economies, honors generational traditions, and reflects the spirit of freedom and responsible land use. Ensuring their survival requires continued advocacy, stewardship, and community involvement. Here are few pioneers that help do just that.
AMERICAN SAND ASSOCIATION
As the lead organization fighting to keep the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) open to off-highway vehicle (OHV) use, the ASA’s primary objective is to “UNITE, INFORM and MOBILIZE” the sand duning community to protect the right to ride on all public lands in a responsible, environmentally balanced manner.
BLM
The BLM is the primary steward of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. They are responsible for managing off-road vehicle access, protecting natural & cultural resources, and partnering with other groups to ensure the long-term health and accessibility of the dunes. Their core values include stewardship and respect for the land and its users.
CORVA
CORVA’s main purpose is to work with the land managers to advocate for responsible off-highway vehicular access and recreation opportunities. Secondarily, we educate our membership on the constantly changing rules and regulations and promote clean-up and trail maintenance projects. They are active at all levels of the land management public process with both the BLM and the USFS
THE CLEAN DUNE PROJECT
This organization focuses on preserving and enhancing the quality of the dunes for all visitors. They organize cleanups, provide bags for trash, and educate people on the importance of keeping the dunes clean.
GLAMIS VETERANS
This organization is dedicated to supporting the military community and the stewardship of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. While their focus is broader than just dune preservation, they are involved in maintaining the area, promoting responsible recreation, and honoring veterans.
TREAD LIGHTLY
Tread Lightly! is a non-profit organization that leads a national initiative to promote the responsible use of motorized vehicles when recreating outdoors. Our goal is to balance the off-road and off-highway vehicle (OHV) users’ need for adventure with the need to conserve the places where they ride and explore.
